Quality, comfortable outdoor furnishings are the main products sold by a company named Rattan. They offer a wide array of goods, appliances, furniture, and protective material that can only enhance the style of a homeowner’s backyard. Entertaining guests outdoors can be made comfortable by adding Rattan weave garden furniture to a yard.

Producing state of the art, high quality outdoor furniture is the backbone that drives the Rattan Company. Because they specialize in outdoor furnishings, their products have been made to withstand the elements. These furniture pieces can cost more than generic, run of the mill pieces, but offer an unmatched level of quality and style.

Wicker products have become the mainstay of furniture produced by Rattan. Wicker is the name for a type of constructing material that is thin pieces of wood that are woven together to form different shapes. Once wicker is woven together it forms a very tough material that can withstand many years outside without being ruined.

The pieces made by this company are very stylish and can be broken down into different groups of fashion. The first is the oriental furniture category. These designs give a Far East feel to the backyard and are important for Feng Shui dcor. This is simply a style of decorating an area by creating balance in the space used.

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

When you consider the French nation, you think of fashion and style. But there seems to be one new fashion trend where the French are lagging behind and what is all the more surprising is that they are now being beaten by the Australians! Summer in France can be very hot, especially in the south and some form of protection or shade is important to have the ability to enjoy the “outdoor life”.

No wonder that, during the summer time, the local DIY centres are stacked out with “shade solutions” – pergolas, parasols and awnings to assist in generating shade The majority of of us don’t have the years of patience required to grow an old vine or wisteria which would provide the “ideal shade solution” – no we need a quicker, man-made solution – but still one that has plenty of style…

Low Voltage Outdoor Lighting – Safe and Cost-Efficient Lighting Solution

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Low voltage outdoor lighting is an easy to implement, safe and a low-cost way to light up your yard. In order to set up the system, you won’t even have to pay for an electrician, since most likely you will be able to set up your low voltage outdoor lighting on your own.

Low voltage outdoor lighting uses a current, which is 10 times less potent than regular electric current. This low voltage lighting uses a 12 V current when regular current is 120 V. This naturally renders this type of lighting 10 times safer. Electric runs through a specific water proof cable, which creates a loop around the transformer, lighting up the garden.

There are several important advantages of the low voltage outdoor lighting setups, when compared to regular lighting:

1. A homeowner can set up his/her own low voltage outdoor lighting system hassle free, with the use of a special kit. Such kit usually includes all of the needed components, such as the cable, a transformer and the fixtures. The only needed component that is not included in the kit is the bulbs. However, it would not be prudent to include the bulbs in the kits, since every bulb may have a different wattage.

Satisfy Yourself By Designing Your Garden

The “new look” in building architecture started in Europe, and on this continent in California, early in the 20th century. It did not come to Canada until after the Second World War. Basically, modern architecture is functional rather than decorative. It emphasizes the structural mass in buildings and calls for ordered surroundings.

Garden planning has not developed a modern style to such a clear extent as architecture, since traditional materials and practices have not changed as much in gardening as in building. Gardens cannot be purely practical as their function is largely decorative. Their reasons for existence are to provide beauty, relaxation and a natural setting for the buildings. When we work with complex natural forms, it is difficult to adhere to the plain surfaces characteristic of modern architecture.

Today we arrange plants in new forms to suit the scale and proportions of the new buildings; and we arrange the space in our gardens to suit our changing social habits. The key idea in modern garden planning has been to consider the garden as an outdoor extension of the house for the comfort of the family, rather than as a plant museum. This idea has also led to using more outdoor furniture, lighting, BBQ, screens, shelters, swimming pools and other things for decoration.
