If you are fed up with the color of your refrigerator then you can render an additional layer of design to the body of your old refrigerator. Though the job appears a bit sophisticated but you can handle it on your own. You would require a little guidance and the right kind of materials to attain success in the concerned task.

First of all, assess the area of the refrigerator that needs to be painted. The back side of the refrigerator should be excluded from the paint-job as the black color complements the operation of the coils. Consider only the front, top and bottom surface of the refrigerator for the required paint-job. Also, take into consideration the amount of paint needed to repaint the refrigerator.

Choose the color with the beautification theme in mind and purchase this special paint from a local paint shop. The quality of this paint makes it heat-resistible and cold-resistible.

Clean the external body of the refrigerator unit thoroughly to remove any kind of stain, dirt or smoke. Such an operation would offer a smooth layer to the upcoming coat of paint. Consequently, the paint layer will be able to bind effectively to the surface of the refrigerator.

The next step is to inspect the surface of the refrigerator for any kind of nicks, scratches, and rust. Fix or repair such odd spots immediately. You need to sand them with the help of sandpaper. Such rigorous application would even out the surface of the refrigerator’s body. Do not overdo the painting operation as that could damage the paint layer. Restrict the application of the sandpaper to nicks and scratches only.

Before commencing the paintjob, put some masking tape on the areas which fall outside the scope of the paintjob. Use special masking tape for concealing such units of the refrigerator. Standard masking tape is much stickier than the specialized mask tap. Also, mask the rubber seals located on the top, bottom and sides of the refrigerator’s body.

Read the manufacturer’s instructions written on the paint-box and start painting your refrigerator. Once the paint dries off, remove the masking tape to release the new look of your refrigerator.

A novice can also repaint the refrigerator by following these simple tips.

Microwave oven is amongst the electrical items that are small but the tricky errors can be solved without the need of an expert. There are problems associated with such devices that keep coming back. Usually, these problems can be tackled without the help of an expert. However, a word or two from an expert would prove handy while repairing an electrical device.

Though the repairing of microwave can prove to be an experience of lifetime in the absence of an expert’s guidance, you will find the repair work fairly simple. For instance, if you encountered a broken door handle of the microwave then do not panic and maintain your patience throughout. With the help of a putty knife, take out the trim which is fixed around the door. Below this trim, you find the screws to detach the handle from the door.

There are situations when the microwave stops working because food inside the microwave catches fire. In that situation, look for the flame oven thermostat safety switch. This switch allows you to turn off the microwave in extreme conditions. These switches are available in every microwave oven nowadays.

When replacing the bulb of the microwave, make sure to turn off the power supply. This step before the replacement of the bulb is very important to keep yourself and the smart board of the microwave safe.

In case the microwave is arcing during its operation, turn off the device to prevent any further damage. The arcing inside the microwave is a result of the food that is sticking in and around the wave guard area. This arcing of microwave can be stopped by keeping the microwave clean and dirt free.

If the countdown timer on the display is running and the light inside the microwave is also working, but it is not producing the heating effect then this could be accredited to a faulty door switch.

Always make sure that the microwave is switched off before you start to work on its wirings.

Following these general tips would certainly help you in saving some extra bucks.

Scott Rodgers is a fine expert who has been authoring on electricians contents for a long time now. His exemplary guidance has given motivation to a host of workers, ranging from Marble Hill Electricians to Wellesley Electricians.

Today’s market has provided us with unique appliances to ease the work. The convenience of these modern day appliances have shaved hours and hours off of a typical work week. A hair dryer is one such appliance. A hair dryer, also known as a blow dryer, is an electrical device used to dry and style hair.

Have you ever wondered what those components are inside a hair dryer that lets you blow hot air through your hair without burning your scalp? Keep reading to find out why you won’t sizzle.

When you turn on a hair dryer, flow of electricity enters the device. The electrical energy is then harnessed and used to power a small fan that sits inside of the hair dryer. Although it is similar in shape to a water wheel, it differs in purpose because it actually uses the electrical energy to create movement. That movement is then used to create airflow.

The power supplied to the hair dryer runs its motor and in turns the fan. This fan pulls the air which enters the machine through the groves provided on its body for this purpose. To prevent any unwanted objects entering the machine through the air inlets, a screen is provided.

The air that is pulled by the fan is the, through a tube is directed onto the hair to dried. But before that the air is made to heat-up.

The heating coil is made of nichrome (an alloy of nickel and chromium) and is installed on an insulating board. Because nichrome is a poor conductor of electricity and does not oxidize when heated, it is the perfect choice to use for the heating coil.

This heating arrangement is placed in the path of the air that is pulled by the fan and is directed onto the hair through the barrel.

The hotness of the air that is thrown on your hair is however controlled by a temperature controlling switch. Electric hair dryers are a great way to style up your hair in virtually no time.

Scott Rodgers is a great writer when it comes to extensive electrician works. His commendable skill has been fueling business for a host of workers, ranging from Gilberts Electricians to Kula Electricians .

Mini lights can surely enhance the beauty of outer parts of your house. It would be spectacular to see numerous mini lights twinkling around plants. You can also install tiny lights to highlight any special area like porch or footways. It would also provide you with the visibility in the dark. Installing mini lights is a simple process.

First step should be to create a proper plan. Though you can also spread some strands of mini lights on smaller plants or bushes but it can become messy. Instead you can decide on a layout regarding the fixing of lights. Prepare an outline of places where you want to use the mini lights.

When planning the lighting layout, list out the areas of the home architecture that fall under the first sight of the visitors. The window panes, garage doors, roof edges, balcony eaves etc. are the structures that fetch the attention of the visitors from outside. Use various associated items such as gutter hooks and cup hooks to add to the beauty of the area.

Use strands of tiny lights in the garden area to highlight tall trees and bushes. Wrap mini lights around plants. Start the process from top to the bottom. To reach the top of tall trees, you may use ladder.

Drape mini lights in swags from a porch roof. It can add glitter to the area. You may use tiny cup hooks in between the swoops to hold the light strands. You simply need to screw the cup hooks directly into the porch beams. These cup hooks can also be screwed to the wooden roofs if required.

Next thing you need to do is to line the walkways or pathways with the lighting. It can provide safer and attractive view to the visitors. Drive tent stakes into the ground along the path and fix strands of lights in between the stakes.

Sometimes, you may face a problem while covering the large areas outside your home spaces. The cords or the electrical wires may fall short of length while reaching out to the electrical sockets or outlets. In such a case, use extension cords to lengthen the reach.

Though it is an easier process but still you may seek the guidance of any electrician to install the mini lights.

Adding a pool in your backyard not only bestows you with the relaxation point but also, provides your home a lovely and awesome landscape. But, all the beauty dematerializes after the sunset.

Adding lighting to water features in a yard or garden is one of the most attractive things you can do in your home landscape. Explore some ways to make your pond attractive with lights.

But make sure you are well equipped with the essential things like floating solar pond lights, floating lighted pond fountain, electric or solar, underwater pond light with transformer and electricity source.

With all the above things ready, we can easily begin to light up the pond. We now leave in the social light to float over the surface of the pond. These moving lights need no timer or switch. These lights are left to move freely over the surface of the pond and it illuminates with the fall of night, with the energy provided by the sun light during the day.

Market provides us a variety of clear and colored lights in various sizes, shapes and also in the shape of water lily and other aquatic plants. These lights are grouped like artificial plants or their attachments to lit up in the middle of the pond.

Place a floating lighted fountain in the center or deepest part of the pond for the double benefit of a light show with aeration. Fountains can give a variety of spray and light shows, come with control panels, timers, and cords, and will need an electric source and an anchor. Solar floating lighted fountains are a bit more expensive but worth the time-saving installation effort that is saved, as well as the electricity.

Install underwater pond lights around the edge of the pond just under the water for a more dramatic effect. Space lights one to three feet apart, depending on how much light is desired. Underwater lights require a fixture for the light, and a cable, plus a transformer and something to anchor the light in the pond, usually a cement weight or a stake secured well into the earth.

An outdoor GFCI receptacle will also be needed to plug in the underwater light cable. Mount an electric box to a post near the pond for easier accessibility, and encase the GFCI receptacle with a waterproof cover to be able to keep the light plugged in.

Scott Rodgers is a highly skilled author on electrician works. His wonderful exposure on lighting works has helped a lot many Orinda Electricians (Need one? click here!) and Kirkville Electricians (Need one? click here!).

A smoke detector is a device that detects smoke. The main function of a smoke alarm is to alert the person at risk. A fire strikes when you least expect it, often during the night. It also spreads very rapidly, but the real killer is smoke. If you are asleep when a fire starts and you don’t have a smoke alarm to wake you, your chances of surviving are zero. But with the smoke alarm installed at your place you can save your loved ones.

The Government of countries worldwide regulated law for the compulsory installation of smoke alarms in all places where people sleep. After becoming generally available in the early 1970′s home smoke alarm sales grew rapidly and the price fell, so that every home had at least one. Although smoke alarms provide certain benefits worth considering, you should also consider some drawbacks.

There are two types of home smoke alarms available; the ion type and the photoelectric type. The ion type reacts faster to open flaming fires and is usually the least expensive. The photoelectric type reacts faster to smoldering fires and is less likely to react to cooking. Well, these are not the only fire type. These are many other forms of fire which are not detected by the smoke alarm.

Smoke alarms are available which run on house power but also have a battery in case the main power fails. Both types of alarms need to be tested monthly and batteries should be replaced yearly just as with the battery-only operated type. If left ignored can lead to disaster.

Moreover, the smoke alarm sounds when there is not fire. Steam coming out of the bathrooms often activates the alarm creating the nuisance.

In addition, high humidity or pollen can sometimes cause unwanted reactions. The sensors in the unit detect the dirt and dust and start sounding.

Installing smoke detectors near stoves, toasters or toaster ovens is a quick recipe for false alarms. Unfortunately, these areas are among those most in need of careful monitoring for fire hazards. Heat detectors, which sound alarms based on sharp temperature change, are worthy substitutes in such areas.

Smoke alarm systems also associate additional fees and are just not about the initial cost. But it is better to bear the high cost of the system than to take risk with our precious life and depository as well. But, make sure, you check the batteries timely and replace them once in a year.

No matter where you live being safe is something that concerns all of us. You’ve got the basics: locks on the doors and windows, perhaps an alarm system, and maybe even some existing lights that operate via switch. But if you don’t have motion sensor lights you’re not getting all the security you need.

One of the easiest things you can do to help protect your property is to install a motion sensor. It’s simple: When an object or person gets close enough, the lights kick on. Let’s face it, light is not an intruder’s best friend. A motion sensor will also help light your way when you come home at night. If you have an exterior light and you want to enjoy the security and convenience of a motion controlled light, then here is how to install a motion sensor.

There are various kinds of sensor lighting. Always turn off the power before working with electricity. You only need to cut the power to the circuit you are working on.

Take out the light fixture from the wall. Test the fixture’s wires for no voltage and disconnect the. Bring the fixture to your work table. Find a place on the fixture to install the motion sensor. Make sure the sensor does not obstruct the actual light.

Screw in the provided bracket to the now empty fixture compartment. This will provide a corresponding anchor for the base of the motion sensor light being installed. Affirm the motion sensor on the fixture using the lock nut that usually comes with the sensor.

When you connect the wires, make sure you marry them black to black, white to white, etc. Twist the wires together like you would a twist-tie, and then cover them with a cap nut by “screwing” it onto the wires. Always cover all conjoined wires with a cap nut. If there is any exposed wire at the base of the cap nut, wrap some electrical tape around it.

In the similar way, conjoin the white wire of the electrical box with the white wires of the fixture and the sensor. Make the connections for the other wires also. If there is grounding wire, attach it to the light box.

Once the light is installed, aim the single or dual lights to the area you want lighted. Adjust the position of the motion sensor so that the lights come on at the first point of detection. This may take a few tries before you are satisfied with the results.

If you feel the necessity of having outdoor utility lights for your house then you must analyze a few factors before heading to any lighting store. You should make proper assessment of your requirements. Without proper study, you may end up getting the wrong products leading to the wastage of time and money.

Location of your house proves to be an important factor in deciding the kind of lighting you want for your home. If you are living in a densely populated area then you might not require much lighting elements in comparison to those who are living in remote locations with no facility of street lights.

Generally outdoor lighting is of two types, aesthetic lighting and safety lighting. Aesthetic lighting is meant to enhance the beauty of the outer parts of your home. It should be soft and subtle if you are living in a well-lit area.

On the other hand, the safety lighting fixtures secure the important spaces of the home exteriors. The sidewalk of the home or the poolside can be secured using such lighting fixtures. In addition, the entrance door or gate of the home must be properly illuminated by such lights.

The backyard of the home is one area that requires proper light installations. A dark or dimmed backyard would offer easy invitation to the burglars and thieves. Moreover, infant members of the family may face some trouble in those dark areas during the night time.

Properly illuminated house not only provides the safety to your family members but also checks the entry of any suspicious agents. It becomes even more important if you are residing in a less populated place.

To complement the working of the spread lights, use focus lights or spot lights to cover the important junctures of the home exteriors. Fir example, the sidewalk of the home generally contains the electrical breaker box and the water meter. Keep the area illuminated to prepare for an emergency.

Visit the local home improvement store or the electrical store to explore the available varieties of outdoor utility lighting fixtures. Ask the concerned salesperson for his valuable suggestions on that front. In addition, the guidance of a local electrician can be availed.

Scott Rodgers is a noted expert who has been authoring on electricians contents for a long time now.
Lighting fixtures have this uncanny ability to make even the average structures stand out. If one wants to spruce up their dining and living room’s appearance drastically, one can actually op for an aesthetically designed Chandelier. Chandeliers can instantly add a great dose of sparkle and glamor in any house or building.

Here, we’ll tell how to replace a dining-room pendant light with a stylish new chandelier. Hanging a chandelier means, you will have to work with electricity. So, before making any installations and replacements, go to the electrical panel and trip the circuit breaker. Make sure, the power is completely turned off. If you are replacing the chandelier with the old light fixture, unscrew the fixture’s canopy to access the electrical box.

The metal electrical box should be detached from the metal hanger bar. Just unscrew the screws using a screw driver. If it’s a metal box, loosen the screws on the cable connector, and slide out the cable. Adjust the fan brace on the top of the ceiling. First hand- tighten it. When you can’t hand-tighten the brace any more, use an adjustable wrench for another few turns to fully embed the prongs in the joists.

Install the new electrical box in the ceiling. Secure the chandelier’s mounting bracket to the ceiling box. Pull about 6 to 10 inches of cable into the box, and tighten the connector screws to lock the cable in place.

Locate the U-bolt, metal support flange, and hex nuts that come with the fan brace. Slip the U-bolt over the fan brace, and then slide the support flange onto the threaded ends of the bolt. Thread a nut onto each side of the U-bolt and tighten each to lock it in position.

Push the box up into the ceiling and secure it to the U-bolt with two hex nuts, tighten them with a nut driver. Thread the nipple first into the chandelier’s chain holder, then into the fixture-mounting bar. Feed the chandelier wires through the nipple. Lift the fixture and screw the mounting bar to the electrical box.

Make connection between the ground wire of the cable and the chandeliers ground wire. Also, combine the cable and chandelier’s white wire. Repeat the same for the black wires as well.

Hide all the wires into the electrical box. Place the canopy of the chandelier against the ceiling with the help of chandelier chain. At last, place the lamps and lights in the chandelier. Turn on the mains power and test whether the chandelier is installed rightly.

Scott Rodgers is a fine expert who has been authoring on electrician works for a long time now. His skill has given motivation to a host of workers, ranging from Lutz Electricians to Plainville Electricians .

Have you ever encountered fault in home your electrical set up? Well, you must have as it is quite often. Then, what is your next step in this regard. You simply rush to seek electrician’s aid. But, by the time you call in an electrician, most of the damage is already done to the electrical set up. Consequently, they have to pay heavy by witnessing large damage to their electrical architecture.

In such a case, one should know the basics of electricity so as to avoid conditions getting worse. A wise head on your shoulders can save you from a possible electrical hazard. And you do not have to call in the experts for smaller faults.

Before making any repair, adjustment or replacement to electricity, turn off the power supply. Electrical irregularities can be avoided by following some of the very necessary steps. To start with, give a casual inspection to the sockets, broken switches and loose connections. Conceal them, if you find loose wires. Moreover, the naked wire joints should be appropriately insulated to prevent electrical shocks. Replace the damaged and irreparable wires or the cords.

Most importantly, never forget to gather the required tools like voltage tester, digital multi-meter, GFCI testers etc. Without having them it is not impossible to correct the faults. With the tools available, one can determine the voltage, current, electrical resistance of the exaggerated electrical circuitry.

Correcting some of the very basic household electrical problems does not demand for high qualifications and degrees. Primary knowledge about the electrical theory would be added advantage for your family. For example, operating the main circuit breaker should be known to everyone. At least each one should know how to turn on and off the MCB, if required.

Usually, people locate the circuit breaker box or MCB box at house entrance. But nowadays, these are preferred to be hidden from the guests and are therefore installed in places like in basements or store rooms.

Other than finding the small faults in the electrical set up, there are much more complexities like home internal wiring that can harm the electricity, appliances and the home in turn. One can avail the services of an expert if he faces any trouble.

With little learning about the basic electrical concepts, you can be certain that you and your loved ones will be safe.

Scott Rodgers is a greatly skilled writer on electrician works. His stupendous exposure on lighting works has helped a lot many Conover Electricians and Bellmore Electricians .
