Proper Hot Tub Maintenance
Wednesday, August 4th, 2010You are more than likely well aware of the many benefits linked to owning your own hot tub. A home spa can provide hours of fun and relaxation for you, your family and all of your friends. Its a fantastic way to reduce stress through daily relaxation. However, you should also know that proper maintenance of your hot tub not only keeps the device working for a long time but can also reduce health risks. Contaminants such as mold can cause damage to your health if the unit is not properly maintained. Follow the specific instructions from the hot tubs manufacturer in order to keep up with proper maintenance.
To keep your spa clean, make sure you drain it and clean it thoroughly once every three or four months. If you follow these steps, you should be able to keep your hot tub going for years to come:
To begin, locate the drain plug towards the bottom of the unit. Attach a hose and then drain the tub water into a storm drain or your lawn. If this takes too long, you can also purchase an inexpensive pump from a hardware store to speed up the process.
